Uncommon Schools wins first Broad Prize for charters

The New York City-based network was one of three finalists, along with Achievement First and KIPP. The Broad Foundation has previously awarded prizes only to school districts that do a particular good job boosting high-need students’ performance; New York City won in 2007. The Broad Foundation made sizable gifts to Uncommon and Success Academy Charter Network in 2009.
