Eight charter schools approved for New York City

SUNY Charter Schools Institute, one of two bodies that can authorize charter schools in New York State, has signed off on eight more schools to open in New York City next year.

Six of the schools, in every borough but Staten Island are in Eva Moskowitz’s Success Academy network (Moskowitz wants to operate 100 schools by a decade from now; the six new schools would bring the total to 26 next year). One is in the much smaller Achievement First network. And one is the second replica of Family Life Academy.

The institute also authorized one charter school to open in Rochester. READ ABOUT THE NEWLY AUTHORIZED CHARTER SCHOOLS
