Kamila Tlatenchi dreams of making movies like her favorite director, Steven Spielberg. So she’s applying to schools with a focus on the visual arts.
“I’m looking at Life Academy, [Juan] Morel [Campos Secondary School], and Arts and Design High School,” Tlatenchi said while flipping through the booklets she gathered from each school at Brooklyn’s high school fair.
Tlatenchi said all those schools are farther from her house than she would like, but said a long commute is worth it for a strong arts and film curriculum.
“I have to submit a story board and portfolio by December,” Tlatenchi said. “I’m not worried though. I have a lot of ideas.”
