Voices from the 2013 high school search: Julia Seacott

Julia Seacott said at the Staten Island high school fair that she is looking at New Dorp High School or CSI High School for International Studies because she’s interested in their dance and cooking programs. “Dance is something I want to get into and New Dorp and CSI both offer it,” Seacott said.

Julia’s father, Jim Seacott, said finding the right high school can be a tough process. He went through it with his older daughter three years ago, and said she didn’t get accepted anywhere during the first round of applications.

“It seems like the higher you put the school in priority on your application, the better chance you have, but we did that with my older daughter and it didn’t work,” Seacott said. “So I’m not sure what our strategy will be this time.”

Seacott said Julia’s sister wound up at New Dorp High School and she’s happy there, so he’s happy Julia is considering it, too. “I find New Dorp to be a good school,” he said. “I’m glad she’s looking at it.”
