Celebration of Teaching & Learning

Hosted by WNET New York Public Media, parent company of New York’s flagship public television stations THIRTEEN & WLIW21—the Celebration will once again bring together global experts, advocates, practitioners, and academics with K-12 educators to create a unique professional development experience where knowledge meets inspiration. Speakers this year will address The Arts,Global Awareness, Health & Wellness, and Science, Technology, Engineering & Math (STEM).

This year’s Celebration will feature a dynamic list of internationally acclaimed speakers, including: Barnett Berry, Founder and President of the Center for Teaching Quality (CQT), Inc.; Charlotte Danielson, internationally-recognized expert in the area of teacher effectiveness; Dr. Keith Devlin, Co-founder and Executive Director of Stanford University’s H-STAR Institute, Co-founder of the Stanford Media X Research Network and Senior Researcher at CSLI; Henry Louis “Skip” Gates, Jr., Alphonse Fletcher University Professor and the Director of the W.E.B. Du Bois Institute for African and African American Research at Harvard University; Sal Khan, Founder of Khan Academy; Yul Kwon, host of the PBS miniseries AMERICA REVEALED; Wes Moore, author of The Other Wes Moore; Pedro Antonio Noguera, Ph.D., the Peter L. Agnew Professor of Education at New York University; Michael J. Sandel, the Anne T. and Robert M. Bass Professor of Government at Harvard University; Tavis Smiley, President and CEO of The Smiley Group, Inc.; Steve Spangler, the “Science Guy” from THE ELLEN DEGENERES SHOW; Susan Szachowicz, Principal of Brockton (MA) High School; and others to be announced!
