Brooklyn PTA 5K Run for Schools

NEWSFLASH!!!! Proposed budget cuts by the Albany Legislature are causing schools to consider canceling enrichment activities, increase class size and cut staff.

PTAs across the city are trying to make up some of those shortfalls with bake sales, auctions, and fundraisers of all types. Now in an effort to bring schools, parents and kids together, we are organizing one fundraiser to benefit all participating schools.

You Can Join!

  • The PTAs of Brooklyn’s public schools are coming together to sponsor a 5 kilometer race/walk/stroll/toddle in Prospect Park.
  • Participants pay the registration fee, and then, if they want to help raise additional money, find people to sponsor them. There will be prizes for the top fundraisers!
  • 50% of post race profits are divided evenly among qualifying schools (20 or more participants) and 50% is divided according to school size.

Post-Race:
After the race there will be parent organizations and other community-building activities.

What should you do right now?

Get runners — lots of them — and register online for the race at Active.com! Make sure they tell us they are running for your school.

Form a running or walking club and plan to do the 5K together!

We have raised thousands of dollars and shared them with many schools: PS 10 – PS 107 – PS 146 – PS 29 – PS 39 – PS 139 – PS 261

Be part of the fun!
