Principals' budget update: Discipline could suffer next year

I’ve added a few more principal responses to our tally of past and potential budget casualties.

Some principals are saying it’s premature to speculate about what they will cut next year because they don’t yet know the exact amount they’ll lose. But others tell us they are planning ahead for what could be rough times.

I just got off the phone with an assistant principal of a large middle school in Queens, who told me that next year her school might not be able to afford to have even a single dean to deal with discipline. Last year, there were two. “We’re going to be in bad shape,” she told me.

We’re still looking for more information about what’s already been eliminated or what’s on the chopping block, so e-mail us what you know.
