Bronx BP education liaison suspended for using position for personal gain

Erica Veras, an education and community liaison in the office of Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz, Jr., tried to use her position to help her son in school, according to a disposition released today by the city’s Conflicts of Interests Board. The board suspended Veras for a month without pay — costing her $5,066.13 — according to the disposition.

Here’s what Veras wrote to administrators at her son’s school — from her work email account — after they told her that her son would not be able to attend eighth-grade activities because he did not meet promotion criteria:
