Cuomo, teachers honored by NYC Outward Bound Schools

NYC Outward Bound Schools sent over these pictures from its 2013 gala last week at the Pierre Hotel, which raised $1.2 million for the 11 schools in the network.

The schools honored Gov. Andrew Cuomo with its Educational Leadership Award. Anees Mohammad, a student at the Expeditionary Learning School for Community Leaders, presented the prize.

And a teacher from the Kurt Hahn Expeditionary Learning School in Brooklyn took home a prize of her own. Jessica Kruse, an English as a second language teacher who is also nationally board certified, won the Gaynor McCown Excellence in Teaching Award.

Last year, Kruse shared excerpts of some of her English as a Second Language students’ essays in the GothamSchools Community section.
