StudentsFirstNY launches social media campaign to preserve the status quo

From a press release from the advocacy group:

In several mayoral debates and forums, the Democratic candidates have expressed views that are concerning; many proposals would weaken accountability, dilute mayoral control and rollback the progress made to improve schools over the last decade. “Over the past decade, our city has made great strides toward transforming broken schools into great ones. We still have a long way to go – it is imperative that the next mayor continues the mantle of reform,” said Glen Weiner, Acting Executive Director of StudentsFirstNY. “Parents across this city are waiting for the candidates to present a concrete plan for ensuring that every child has access to a great school and quality educators.”  The social media campaign, expected to last over several days, will include a series of tweets and Facebook posts about what New York City schools looked like before and after the education reform movement. Social media users will also be directed to the StudentsFirstNY’s website, which has more information about why the Democratic mayoral candidates should not turn back the clock.
