The Professional Staff Congress, the union representing faculty and staff at the City University of New York, will host a mayoral forum on higher education. The event comes at a critical time for CUNY. University Chancellor Matthew Goldstein has announced that he will be leaving the position; the newly elected mayor will have a significant role in filling the post. The next mayor may also be influential in the appointment of a new Chair of the CUNY Board of Trustees, as current Chair Benno Schmidt’s term ends this year.
Candidates for mayor Bill de Blasio, Christine Quinn, Bill Thompson, John Liu and Adolfo Carrión will be joined by journalist Tom Robbins as moderator.
