Speak Out Against Budget Cuts Rally

As you may have already heard, Governor Paterson is calling state legislators back to Albany next month to make budget cuts for the second time this year. The governor has said that everything is on the table – including public education. Mayor Bloomberg has also called for another 5% in budget cuts for the upcoming year on top of the 2.5% cut earlier this year. This amounts to $185 million in mid-year education cuts this year and another $395 million in education cuts for next year.

This Friday, October 10th at 12 noon on the steps of City Hall join the newly formed One New York: Fighting for Fairness Coalition for a press conference to speak out against the budget cuts. Spread the word to PTA,
social justice, parent, student and community groups across all five boroughs. Tell them there is no greater time than now to join the movement. We must continue to speak out!

Earlier this year we stood together shoulder to shoulder against devastating state and city budget cuts, now we must do it again.
